Book-cover production without the pain
Rogue Cover Foundry builds the back cover and spine around your existing front artwork, calculates the exact geometry, shows you the complete spread, checks it and exports a print-ready PDF or PNG—in five minutes or less.
Current beta: Windows and macOS on Apple Silicon (M1 or newer). Apple Intel is not supported.
Rogue Cover Foundry makes it super easy to create beautiful and KDP-ready paperback and hardback covers in minutes. It's intuitive and doesn't require days of learning to be used - I made my first cover in a matter of minutes without help from tutorials.
One focused workflow
No giant blank canvas. No manual spine calculation. No assembling three panels by eye and hoping the upload preview forgives you.
Select Amazon KDP or IngramSpark, paperback or hardback, then enter the exact trim, paper and page-count details.
Upload the front artwork and construct the back, spine, wording, branding and barcode clearance while watching the live preview.
Run print-specific checks, read plain-English guidance for anything flagged, then export the completed cover as PDF or PNG.
This takes one of the fiddliest parts of indie publishing and makes it remarkably straightforward. I was able to turn my existing front cover into a professional, KDP-ready paperback wrap, complete with spine, back-cover copy, publisher logo, barcode space, and bleed.
The live preview and preflight checks gave me confidence that everything was where it needed to be. A genuinely useful tool that I can see myself using across multiple series.

The current beta
Rogue Cover Foundry has grown far beyond the first paperback prototype. These are the tools already built into the current Standard beta.
For anyone who’s ever battled with KDP templates and putting together a paperback cover, this is a total gamechanger.
No more fiddling around with wrong-size templates. No more getting frustrated with bleeds. No more skirmishes with fonts and alignment. This app really does do it all. And what’s more, no technical know-how is required and no design skills needed. It couldn’t be simpler – or more intuitive.
Ideal for any indie author who wants to save time and effort putting together a professional, tailored paperback without the hassle or the headaches.
I only wish this app had been around 10 years ago when I first started publishing books. It would have saved my desk from the countless times I had to bang my head against it.
See the whole cover
The preview is not an afterthought hidden behind an export button. It changes with the settings, shows the real geometry and can be enlarged for a closer inspection.
Check before upload
The app checks the generated cover itself. Informational notices are separated from genuine problems, and anything actionable comes with an explanation instead of an obscure warning symbol.
A desktop production tool
Rogue Cover Foundry is built for a focused local workflow. It does not require you to feed unpublished artwork into a browser-based cover builder just to assemble a spine and back cover.
Founding beta
Rogue Cover Foundry is still in active beta. We are testing real production jobs—especially IngramSpark and hardback covers—and using direct feedback to fix anything confusing, inaccurate or needlessly painful.
